New York Events are pleased to present a Pre World Cup Evening with the presenters of Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, featuring; Matt Le Tissier, Paul Merson and Phil Thompson. All three Sky Sports presenters are former professional footballers and have represented the England national football team on many occasions.
This will be a great evening with the Soccer Saturday team as they debate and comment on players, teams and match fixtures of the forthcoming World Cup 2018 to be held in Russia. It's sure to be a night of banter and laughter.
Matthew Le Tissier is a former professional footballer and football television presenter. He represented England at international level. He works as a football pundit for Sky Sports and is the honorary president of Guernsey F.C. Le Tissier spent his entire professional club career with Southampton and won eight caps for the England national team before turning to non-League football in 2002; his loyalty garnered special affection from Southampton's fans who nicknamed him "Le God".
Paul Merson is an English former professional footballer and manager, turned football television pundit. Originally a forward, Merson found success as an attacking midfielder and playmaker later in his career. After making his debut for Arsenal in the 1986–87 season, Merson went on to play eleven seasons with the North London club. While with the Gunners, Merson was a key player in the club's success, winning the Football League Championship twice, the FA Cup, the Football League Cup, and the European Cup Winners' Cup. Merson was capped 21 times for the England national football team and represented the nation at 1992 UEFA European Championship and the 1998 FIFA World Cup.
Phil Thompson is an English retired footballer, who played as a defender for Liverpool team of the 1970s and 1980s. During this time, he also represented the England national football team on 42 occasions. After retiring as a player, he later served Liverpool as assistant manager and, during the 2001–02 season, acted as caretaker for 6 months while manager Gérard Houllier was ill. He is currently a pundit on Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports, does on and off work as a pundit for TV 2 (Norway), and is a regular Visiting Fellow at the University of Liverpool where he teaches on the Football Industries MBA.
